Cardiologist
Duties and responsibilities: Cardiologists are
physicians who have received additional training to prevent, diagnose and treat
conditions of the cardiovascular system, which includes the heart and the
body's blood vessels. Before practicing as a cardiologist, the roles and
responsibilities of a cardiologist can vary, but certain overviews are
possible.
Salary: They are guaranteed an average base salary
of $512,000
Education: Physicians must graduate from medical
school, complete a residency and become board-certified in internal medicine,
and then complete a fellowship in cardiology. Cardiology residencies typically
last three years, and fellowships are a minimum of three years, making at least
six years of training beyond medical school.
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one?
Why? Why not?
No, I would not like to be one, because my interests
do not consist of the cardiovascular system, or anything else having to do with
the body. Although I’d be of great help,
I feel like I am not made for that type of career.
