Associate's degree programs in optician prepare students with the job skills needed for an entry-level position in the field. Courses may include optical theory, ophthalmic dispensing, lens technology, finishing procedures and an optical laboratory. Opticians may also gain training through apprenticeship programs, which are often obtainable by large employers and tend to last two or more years.
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why or why not? No, I wouldn’t want to be one because I don’t ever see myself being an optician since I am into different type of careers and I wouldn't like to work with the eyes more than anything . I would prefer/enjoy to have a different career although an optician seems like a nice job for people who are actually interested in these types of jobs, also because you earn an average salary.
