Duties and Responsibilities: Reflexology is a system of massage used to relieve tension and treat illness, based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and head linked to every part of the body. Reflexology is the application of pressure on reflex points. It is generally relaxing and may be an effective way to alleviate stress. These reflex points correspond to organs and systems of the body. Pressure applied to these points affects the organs and benefit's the person's health. In this job you would need to be able to listen to clients and empathise with their health or emotional issues.
Salary: According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics 2016-17 Occupational Outlook Handbook, the median national annual salary for massage therapists is $37,180.
Education: Certificate, associate's degree..Most states require a license or certification for massage therapists; voluntary certification in reflexology is available. 500 hours of massage therapy education may be required for state licensure and by some employers.
Demand for this profession: Employment of massage therapists is projected to grow 22 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Continued growth in the demand for massage services will lead to new openings for massage therapists.
Reflection: No, i do not think i would like to become a Reflexologist. The reason why is because i am not interested in this type of career. My interest is towards something else and i do not see myself as a Reflexologist although some people may be adequate for this job and might enjoy it.
